The SeaDream II vessel was not due to dock until Thursday morning, but due to an inclement weather forecast, local port agents facilitated its early arrival on Wednesday afternoon.
The SeaDream Yacht Club cruise has 69 passengers on board, on a 12-day voyage which set sail from Bordeaux on 11 May.
It diverted its plan to dock at Douarnenez in Brittany earlier this week, deciding to head straight for the Channel Islands instead.
‘We’re always happy to welcome cruise ships,’ said Stuart Andrews, general manager of Channel Seaways and Allied Coasters.
‘It’s good for the island, and great for visitors to experience Guernsey.
‘They get the bug for it on these stops, and then make a point to come back. So it’s great to have them for the extra night, and they were very happy that we were able to facilitate them.
‘We did try to see if we could get them into Jersey first, but the logistics didn’t quite work. We were already geared up for them here, with no tendering required, so it worked out. Last year, she visited for the first time, but went to anchor.
‘This is the first time she has come into the harbour and docked.
‘And she’s sailing off to Sark today.’
