Two men who pretended to be police officers have been arrested after persuading a local convent they needed cash for an investigation.

The arrest was made on suspicion of them defrauding someone of £10,000.

They asked for it to be left in a specific location for collection and then travelled to the island by ferry to collect it.

Officers tracked and identified them through CCTV and arrested them when they got off their return ferry back to the UK, recovering the money in the process.

Anyone who has received a suspicious phone call from ‘police’, particularly between 12 May and today, or any other forms of contact should get in touch with Guernsey Police urgently on 222222 to assist with the investigation.
