Man in court over alleged town bomb hoax

A man appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with an alleged bomb hoax that occurred at the North Plantation on 10 May.

Francesco Biancu, 33, of St James Street, St Peter Port, will appear in court again in two weeks' time and his conditional bail was extended until then.

Francesco Biancu, 33, of St James Street, St Peter Port, is charged with communicating information that he knew to be false, namely that a bomb or other thing was present and likely to explode or ignite in any place or location.

He is charged under the Terrorism and Crime Law. He was given time to take legal advice and no plea was entered.

He will appear in court again in two weeks' time and his conditional bail was extended until then.
