The cafe, which has become a popular hub for people to gather to meet and make friends, together with the charity shop, provides a valuable community service
‘We are so lucky to have such a dedicated, generous and reliable team of volunteers and we are working on expanding on what’s on offer at the community centre, but we are always looking for new people and new ideas of what we can do for our community,’ said Sarka Lee, the newly-appointed centre manager.
‘Currently we open the shop until 2pm, and the cafe until 1pm, apart from Thursdays when the centre is closed. We also operate a branch of the Guille-Alles on Wednesdays and Fridays.’
She said that becoming a volunteer could be as simple as offering just one hour a week.
‘We are not asking you to commit lots of hours, even offering one hour of your time can help us make a huge difference.
‘There are a large variety of roles on offer.’
Anyone who is keen to help out can drop into the centre or call 01481 200216.
