News that the necessary grant funding had been approved, and work was about to start on the site, now officially known as Court Falaise, was reported by the Guernsey Press last week.

The GHA has appointed Groupe Legendre as the development’s principal contractor, which will work in partnership with local firm Breton to deliver the homes. Construction will begin this summer and is expected to be completed in time for occupation during the first half of 2028.

‘Court Falaise is about more than building new homes.

‘It is about making better use of land, supporting islanders who need affordable housing and creating a development that will deliver lasting value,’ said Lisa de Kooker, the GHA’s chief operating officer.

‘This is a complex site that required careful planning, collaboration and investment to reach this stage. Developments of this scale do not happen overnight, so reaching this point and moving into construction is a significant milestone for everyone involved.

‘We are incredibly proud to be delivering 70 much-needed homes for the island. Court Falaise will make a meaningful contribution to meeting Guernsey’s housing needs and we are excited to see this carefully planned development become a reality.’

Meanwhile, both of the building firms involved are equally as enthusiastic.

Luc Richard, director of Groupe Legendre in the Channel Islands, said the work on this project was part of a long-term commitment to the island.

‘The former CI Tyres yard has a great deal of potential, and we look forward to working alongside GHA and Breton to help bring it back into productive use, supporting the delivery of affordable housing in Guernsey,’ he said.

Brent Green, managing director of Breton Construction, said the company was delighted to be working in partnership with Legendre and the GHA.

‘This important development will provide much-needed high-quality homes for the island.

‘We are proud to be contributing our expertise to a project that will have a lasting positive impact for Guernsey residents and future generations.’
