Kevin Mauger, 49, of The Bridge, Vale, entered no plea. The court was told that the accusation stemmed from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Saturday [13 June].

Prosecuting Advocate Liam Roffey asked for an adjournment of four weeks to enable the police investigation to continue.

He said the case should be able to be committed to the Royal Court soon after that.

Judge Gary Perry adjourned the case until 13 July and set 5 August as a preliminary date for committal.

A bail application was refused.

Police released a statement following the court appearance yesterday.

‘We would like to take this opportunity to reassure the public that there is no evidence of any ongoing risk to anyone in the community. We can also confirm this is not related to any other recent incident,’ they said.
