A brochure which appeared to be advertising the island – though with no sale details or reference to price – has been circulated in various group chats and on social media.
It contains high-quality, close-up images of the outside and what appear to be the inside of the property and areas around the island.
It does not have any company branding or contact details.
The Guernsey Press contacted a company that works with the family, which confirmed that the island was not for sale and was a ‘serious invasion’ of the client’s privacy.
Earlier this year five properties owned by the Barclay family in Sark were put on the market, including a mix of former hotels and private homes. One restaurant is understood to be under offer.
Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay bought Brecqhou in 1993 for £2.3m. and then spent £60m. in developing a Gothic-style castle on the island.
