Grow’s Halloween Craft Market runs from 10am to 2.30pm at Grow in the Coutanchez, with local craft stalls, spooky creations made by the workshop crew, face painting, Halloween crafts, children’s games, and food and treats.
Sea shanty group GU10 will perform live.
Local pumpkin carver Nate Smith will show off his skills, while James Ferguson of Cooked will demonstrate just how versatile pumpkins can be, offering tastings of pumpkin risotto, soup, dips and pumpkin mac and cheese with help from the Grow crew.
Children are encouraged to come in Halloween fancy dress, with judging at noon.
The market is also a chance to see the work of Grow’s crew, adults with learning disabilities and difficulties who develop practical skills, confidence and experience through activities and training at Grow.
Meanwhile, Souper Spooky Saturday returns to the Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden at Saumarez Park from 11am to 3pm.
The event started in 2011 as Souper Saturday, when soup was served at harvest time, and took on its spooky twist when it was combined with Halloween.
Visitors can taste soups made from the garden’s own vegetables, along with cakes.
Children can explore a creepy crafting cavern, take part in a Halloween hunt and ghoulish games, and pet rabbits from 11am to 2pm.
Morris dancers Belles & Broomsticks will also perform from 2pm and there will be crafts and plants from La Choppe and a guess-the-weight-of-the-pumpkin competition.
Entry is free, but visitors are asked to bring cash. Dressing up is encouraged and parking is available at Home Farm, weather permitting.
