Guernsey Ports said it was aware of the incidents and had been closely monitoring developments.

‘As with any incident, Guernsey Airport has been reviewing its own response planning and risk management arrangements in consultation with the appropriate authorities,’ said a spokesman.

Drone activity near Jersey Airport on Friday evening stopped four planes from landing. One flight was cancelled before departure and three were diverted back to the mainland.

Despite an urgent police appeal on Saturday morning, five more flights were disrupted that evening, including one from Funchal that was diverted to Paris.

A police investigation is under way to identify those responsible. Under Jersey’s aviation law, anyone found to have recklessly or negligently endangered an aircraft could face up to five years in prison.

The Jersey government has confirmed that ‘additional measures’ are now in place but has given no details, citing operational reasons.
