‘What must visitors think when they see the state of our cliff benches?’

I read recently that Guernsey is spending a large amount of money advertising on the London Underground aiming to attract more visitors to come to our lovely island.

A good initiative, in my view.

However, what must visitors think when they see the state of many benches along the cliff paths? Many of them are totally unusable or unsafe to use and some have the stunning views blocked out by overgrown undergrowth. This conveys a clear impression of not caring and not bothering and obviously spoils the enjoyment of the cliff walks.

Visitors are spending a lot of money to come to Guernsey and need to have a positive experience if they are to return or to spread the word of what a great destination Guernsey is.

Locals would also appreciate being able to use the benches!

Would the department responsible for the benches’ maintenance care to explain why they are in this shocking state?
