Responsibilities

Our new Head of Sales & Marketing will be a capable, personable sales professional responsible for overseeing sales and marketing activities that drive advertising and circulation revenue. You will manage the sales team, developing sales strategies and procedures and work alongside the team to implement them.

  • Develop strategic objectives related to the sales and marketing functions that align with Press goals

  • Create and maintain sales and marketing budgets. Present forecasts, budget, and performance reports to management

  • Create plans for run-of-paper advertising, feature-based and specials advertising & digital campaigns

  • Manage high-value client and partner relationships

  • Identify and target new high-value client relationships

  • Set team and individual sales targets

  • Hire, train, and mentor sales and marketing staff

  • Conduct performance reviews and foster a positive team environment with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

  • Coordinate with the editorial team to take advantage of content-specific sales opportunities and create new sales initiatives

  • Review and analyse circulation performance to inform marketing plans

  • Develop and implement subscription marketing strategies in conjunction with the management team

  • Identify new marketing opportunities and implement

  • Create and maintain quality, compelling POS marketing

  • Champion the Press’s “Local Matters” brand within the island’s business community, and represent the Press at industry events and networking functions

Role Requirements

This role requires a dynamic leader with knowledge of the local media landscape and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving sales growth and building strong client relationships.

  • An ability to sell - know our product inside-out, craft effective sales pitches, do strategic prospecting, build relationships and negotiate

  • Strong communication skills - you’ll need to communicate with your team, customers and management regularly

  • Ability to analyse and problem solve - you will have to analyse market trends and opportunities, responding to competitors' strategies, and prioritise resource allocation

  • Leadership and team management skills

  • Full-time commitment

  • Previous sales or marketing experience preferred
