Players backing coach's stance on Siam Cup
BLAIR CAMPBELL has added his name to those wanting to play a full-strength Jersey in the Siam Cup – even if that means waiting for another Guernsey victory.
GRFC coach Jordan Reynolds has already spoken out strongly against Caesarean thoughts of fielding a weakened team that they believe would make it 'a contest'.
He has been supported by Campbell, who has played in the last six Siam matches, three of them as captain. His debut came in 2008, when Guernsey last lifted the cup.
That win was the Sarnians' third in four years and Campbell believes that if that run of success were to come their way again, it would be well worth the wait.
'These things go in roundabouts and who is to say that in five or six years, we aren't dominating it and they are having these discussions in Jersey,' he said.
'I know it sounds unlikely and, right now, we aren't going into the Siam expecting to win, but that doesn't mean the rules should be changed because of one cycle of a team winning regularly.'
