Helmed by Guernsey Yacht Club commodore Martin Priest, they arrived at the St Peter Port finish with line honours in a relatively still 60th edition of the Channel Islands sailing spectacle.
This fuelled an emphatic victory as, when it came to adjusted times, they finished fully 8min. 32sec. clear of runner-up Jax from Jersey.
‘We’re pleased, because we’ve been second twice,’ Priest said, having been edged out by just 13sec. three years ago.
‘It’s nice to get that.’
His son, Island Games runner James Priest, put it top of his all-time sailing achievements.
‘If you ask any Channel Islands yacht sailor which race they want to win, from both islands, it’s this one,’ he said.
The top crew earned additional recognition for top J boat, IRC and Ancient Mariner.
However, among the numerous other honours awarded, Jersey won the coveted Sir James Knott Trophy based on the performances of their top three boats – Jax, Super Q and Jai Ho.
