Guernsey book place in EH Men's Trophy final

Guernsey 3, Formby 1

GUERNSEY reached their third successive EH Men's Trophy final this afternoon by beating a very good Formby side at Footes Lane.

Matt Watson gave the Sarnians the lead at a 21st-minute short-corner, but a fine individual goal from Nick Giles brought Formby back on level terms before half-time.

After the interval, Tim Ravenscroft, who excelled in central midfield, restored Guernsey's lead on 49min. before Elizabeth College player Jordan Cameron finished off a brilliant team move late on to seal victory and a trip to Nottingham on Saturday 3 May.

'I was particularly pleased with the second half because I thought we controlled them well and limited their chances,' said Guernsey coach Andy Whalley.

'I thought there were some really good performances today. Tim Ravenscroft put in a very big shift, as did everyone else to be fair, and what a goal it was from Jordan to take the pressure off towards the end. It was a superb team move – I would love to say we do it all the time in training, but it would be a lie,' he added with a smile.

The Guernsey women's team play in their EH Trophy semi-final at Henley tomorrow afternoon.
