Guernsey still have their sights on a top-five finish
BLAIR CAMPBELL believes that Guernsey were not clinical enough as their superb run of form halted last weekend.
Going into their clash at Barnes on the back of a five-match winning streak that had propelled them up to fifth in the National Three London & South-East table, the Sarnians suffered a 31-22 defeat.
The damage was done in the first half in which Guernsey fell 16 points behind and, despite scoring four tries, just one was converted and captain Campbell, pictured, admitted that his side were not ruthless enough.
'I thought that we played the better rugby for patches of the game and nobody could have begrudged us if we had gone on and won,' he said.
'But ultimately they took their chances far better than us on the day and, as a result, we can have no complaints at all about the final outcome.
'We are a little bit annoyed that we couldn't get the win and we are determined to bounce back on Saturday and finish our league season off on a high.'
Fourth-placed Tonbridge Juddian are the visitors to Footes Lane for the season-concluding game and, should Guernsey win, they will finish fifth in the table.
'If you had told us at the start of the season that we would finish fifth, we would have taken that as a fine season,' said Campbell.
'There is still a bit of work to do to beat a very strong side that is one place above us, but we are looking to build up some momentum in our final match before the Siam.'
