No fairytale ending for departing captain Kimber

FARMERS became CI club champions for the first time when they gave Tom Kimber the farewell from local cricket he did not want.

Miton Optimal missed the boat at KGV, dominating the morning session and having the visitors 49 for five at one stage.

But led by young all-rounders Rhys Palmer and Ben Kynman, newcomers to the full Jersey team, Farmers squeezed out 184 and proceeded to dismiss Miton for 127.

Miton started well enough and were 37 for nought at one stage, before a collapse prompted by the fall of Lucas Barker, caught at the wicket for 15.

As the middle-order fell away cheaply, Kimber, who is moving to London, desperately tried to right the ship and top scored with 29, but when he was eighth out caught and bowled Farmers soon finished things off.

Palmer was man of the match for his 73 and three for 35.
