Hannah Kennedy led Guernsey’s women to team gold on a sweltering day in Stromness, pushing herself to the limit to earn a terrific individual silver.

The 18-year-old was only beaten by an inspired performance from home athlete Claire Rendall, who topped the podium to the delight of the big Orcadian crowd.

A fifth-place finish from Guernsey flag-bearer Amy Critchlow sealed the team’s top spot on the podium, with Chloe Truffit and Lindsay Sword crossing in seventh and eighth respectively to round off a great day for the women.

In the men’s race, Jersey’s Tom Atkinson stole the show, but with Ethan Woodhead finishing seventh and Dave Mosley 13th, Guernsey walked away with team bronze.
