Premier big guns lie in wait after Jersey

THE games are not only coming thick and fast for Guernsey, they are getting bigger and better.

The island squad are abuzz with the prospect of facing Premier Division outfit Reading in the third round of their inaugural EH Cup campaign after Zak Damarell's hat-trick secured a 3-1 win away at London Edwardians on Sunday.

Before meeting the top-flight big guns, though, there is the matter of Saturday's upcoming trip to Jersey to take on the old enemy in the third round of the EH Trophy in which Guernsey are the holders.

'Jersey this Saturday is an incredible opportunity to play them in the knockout rather than the inter-insular, so it is going to put a different spin on the game and everyone is up for that,' said Guernsey captain Adie Peacegood.

'Reading following that will obviously be another step up again.

'To play Sevenoaks in the first round was one thing and we did exceptionally well to knock them out.

'Then, with all respect, London Eds felt like a slight drop off because we have played them before, so it is going to be, quite literally, a whole different league against Reading.'
