The Hayling Island professional defeated Guernsey's Steve Mahy 3 & 2 in Friday night's final at La Grande Mare to land the trophy and the £500 first prize.

‘It’s been brilliant,' said Richardson of his week at LGM.

'We’ve been looked after fantastically at the hotel, obviously the sponsor Ravenscroft have done an amazing job as well, my friend Johnny Dent [the LGM director of golf] has entertained me – he is a flamboyant character – I’ve loved the course, although I’ve found it tough at times with a 35mph wind, but all-in-all it’s been a brilliant week.'
