‘Blame me’ says Vance after Sittingbourne defeat

‘BLAME me and not the players,’ was Tony Vance’s message after the Green Lions handed Sittingbourne all three Bostik South East league points on a plate yesterday afternoon.

‘We threw it away and we had them rattled as well, that’s the worst thing,’ said Vance underneath the Garenne Stand within a few minutes of the final whistle of a game which had seen the home side level through a Will Fazakerley goal midway through the second half, only for defender Frank Tobin to gift the visitors a winner on 81min.

‘It was like playing Wimbledon.

‘They were obviously very direct and first half I wasn’t very happy, because they bullied us and our possession was poor. We allowed them to bully us,’ added the GFC boss.

‘So we had a few hard words at half time and, to be fair, the response was good second half and if we had showed that in the first half they were a beatable team.

‘I’m not going to stand here and blame Frank or anyone. I’ve told the lads that’s the way I want us to play – build from the back – and unfortunately occasionally you are going to get a caught. So I will take a bit of the responsibility for that.’
