GFC Women start league campaign with convincing victory
GUERNSEY FC WOMEN got their inaugural JFA Combination League campaign off to an impressive winning start on Sunday in Jersey.
The Green Lionesses were comfortable 4-1 winners over Jersey Wanderers, with the hosts' consolation goal coming with virtually the last kick of the game.
GFC Women were three goals to the good by half-time with Codie Le Flem opening the scoring on 18min. before Amy Dallamore doubled the lead with a clever lobbed finish and shortly before the interval Chloe Ingrouille got on the scoresheet as she headed in a corner, which her driving run had earned.
The Green Lionesses dominated for much of the second half and captain Candice Bougourd smacked the crossbar from long range before Donna Gallienne got the deserved fourth goal as she fired in off the post from a tight angle.
Ella Brennand's excellent finish gave Wanderers something to cheer at the end, but this was GFC Women's day.
