GRL keep pressure on the teams above
GUERNSEY RAIDERS LADIES maintained the pressure on their fellow title contenders with an important home victory on Saturday.

The hosts ran turned up the heat in the second half against Uckfield in chilly, windy conditions on the Club Pitch at Footes Lane as they made their superiority count to make it eight wins out of nine in Women’s NC Two South East (South) with a 39-0 success.
They remain three points behind both Dorking and Seaford Scarlets, with a game in hand on the top two.
GRL got off to a strong start against Uckfield and took the lead when scrum-half Ness Brown broke free from a ruck and powered towards the line with great pace to touch down.
Chelsie Blondel added the conversion to make it a seven-pointer.
Charlie Le Noury, who was later named GRL’s forward of the match, extended the lead with an excellent individual try which started from halfway and saw her weave past the defence to get to the line.
Following a positive half-time chat from coach Steve Melbourne, GRL came back stronger after the turnaround.
The introduction of seven replacements 10 minutes into the second half also helped spark Guernsey and soon Aideen Le Prevost was powering through the defensive line before offloading to back-of-the-match Brown to score her second try, which was converted to take the lead to 19 points.
Yvie Coyde was having a big impact in the line-out as she disrupted the Uckfield throws and won some big turnovers and the backline was holding strong as the visitors began to tie.
Daisy Travers extended the lead with the first of her two tries and Le Prevost added two tries of her own as GRL stamped their authority on the game while keeping Uckfield at bay at the other end.
Guernsey are on the road this coming weekend as they visit Crawley, who are sixth in the table.
GRL have 31 players in contention for selection.
