Saints require just six points more
ST MARTIN’S are potentially eight days away from being crowned champions.

Following North’s 6-1 win over Vale Rec on Tuesday, Saints only need to win two out of their five remaining matches to claim the FNB Priaulx League title, but coach Leon Meakin said his side will need to keep their eyes on the prize when they face the chocolate-and-blues tonight.
‘I saw the score against Vale Rec, that’s a big statement win, so we know we will have to be good,’ he said. ‘Everybody is available so I’m confident we will put out a strong 18 as we have been doing.’
Meakin added that needing only a maximum of six more points for an unassailable lead has given St Martin’s a boost for the remainder of their campaign.
‘It’s given us loads of confidence, to be fair we have been really confident since the start of the season,’ he said. ‘But still two games out of five to win, while it doesn’t sound like a lot, we still have a lot to do, and cannot take our eyes off the prize.
‘It would be great to do it in our next two games.’
North will be looking to make their second big statement this week, and end St Martin’s impressive unbeaten run when they welcome them to Northfield tonight.
Coach Charlie Le Prevost did allow himself a chuckle as he joked he must thank fixtures secretary Matt Lihou for giving his side ‘four very big games in two weeks’.
‘But look ,we’re here to play and coach football and everyone enjoys it. So we’ve got to look to the next game and hopefully we can stop Saints [going through the season undefeated] if we can beat them.
'That’s the aim, and that’s what we’ll try and do,’ he added.
Kick off is at 7.30pm.
Elsewhere in the league this weekend, Bels host Sylvans at the Track and Rangers go to Port Soif to face Rovers. Both of those games kick off at 2pm tomorrow.
