Hallett improved his Guernsey record to 27.92sec. in taking sixth in the final at Wednesday night’s Aquatics GB Championships, won by none other than world record-holder and triple Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty.

Going into this pinnacle of the long-course season, held at the London Aquatics Centre, the Guernsey Swimming Club protege held a personal best of 28.15.

He lowered that to 27.94 in the heats to qualify seventh-fastest for the A Final.

As Peaty dominated the final in 26.64, Jersey talent Filip Nowacki swam a brilliant best of 27.10 for silver, with bronze going to reigning champion and 2024 European junior relay gold medallist Max Morgan another 0.12sec. back.

In their wake, Hallett lowered his own best further to underline his fine form approaching the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

‘I was really happy to PB again and felt privileged to be in this final, lining up against such a quality field,’ the 24-year-old said.

‘I am looking forward to the next cycle of training in the run up to “Commies” – after tonight’s experience I’m feeling really motivated.’
