Donna Gallienne gave the Green Lionesses the lead away to AFC Varsity with a terrific curling free-kick after 20 minutes.

Heidi Dawber then doubled their advantage five minutes later with an outstanding goal as she ran onto Codie Le Flem’s pass, beat a defender before cutting into the box, and then planted a finish into the far top corner.

The home side pulled one back before the interval, but there were to be no further goals for either side in the second half as GFC were relatively untroubled in protecting their lead to secure a 2-1 victory.

In their first campaign in a UK league, the Green Lionesses have picked up seven wins and five draws. They are likely to end the season in seventh place.
