Struggling nightclub and bar shut and staff are laid off immediately
TWO full-time staff and a collection of part-timers have been made redundant as Fusion nightclub and Luna bar closed and went into voluntary liquidation.
Liquidators said yesterday that the Lower Pollet venue could be sold as a going concern – although that was doubtful – leaving question marks over the building's use.
The announcement came following news that owner and sole director Adam Burroughs is seriously ill in a Southampton hospital.
The closure has been greeted with sadness and disappointment by regular customers as the news initially spread through social media yesterday.
Fusion Leisure, which earlier this year received the innovation award at the Guernsey Awards for Achievement, confirmed it would be contacting ticket-holders of upcoming events, including the Easter weekend DJ set by former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt .
'Following difficult trading conditions and the recent change in the sole director's health, it has become apparent that the business can no longer run and the decision has been made to close the doors of Fusion nightclub and Luna,' it said on Facebook.
