Blue Islands steps in as Flybe reduces Southampton service
FLYBE has scrapped all its weekday flights from Guernsey to Southampton next month, the airline announced yesterday.
It said that in recent months it had seen 'unacceptable' economic returns on the route due to the significant number of increased services.
'Total supply is no longer aligned with total demand.'
Guernsey Airport was disappointed with the temporary changes, which come into effect from Thursday 2 October to Saturday 25 October.
But it was confident the route would be secure in the short-term after Blue Islands scheduled two extra afternoon flights during October in light of the announcement.
As part of Flybe's arrangements, it will instead operate a twice-daily service on Saturdays and Sundays.
The weekday service will be restored to one a day from 26 October, with one service on Saturdays and two on Sundays.
'Passengers booked on flights no longer operating will be contacted by Flybe's call centre and offered the option of being re-accommodated wherever possible on an alternative flight or given a full refund.
'Flybe wishes to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.'
