Bob & Red licensee Roger Hughes, 47, said it had been an incredibly difficult decision to close the Bridge business.
'The industry as a whole over the last few years has significantly diminished because of the internet and online betting.
'People used to have to come into the shop, but now they can just pick up their phone to place a bet,' he said.
'The business has been in my ownership since February 2003 and in the last few years I've had significant decreases in business and turnover. The time has come where it is no longer cost-effective to continue to operate.
'The bottom line is that if you have a business you have to make more money than it costs to make it viable.'
