Earlier this week the Royal Court heard how Lee Nolan, 30, who earned £26,000 a year, was able to fund a lavish lifestyle after stealing more than £500,000 from his employer.

He was jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Henaghen has revealed how he was brought to justice.

'We had a call from his employer about suspicious activity, and at the time it was for an amount of about £5,000,' said DS Henaghen.

'Once we had gone in, from our point, it moved quickly and more and more was found. We had enough information to go and arrest the individual the next day.

'It is important to react quite quickly for fraud-related activities.

'When the money laundering came into it, it was apparent other individuals had benefitted.'
