He said that family members were facing harassment by the authorities and that was taking its toll.

'My children's cars are being followed and their mobiles tapped,' he said.

Mr Noakes further claimed that a helicopter full of UK police and Border Agency officials, bearing handcuffs, had approached his children in Bournemouth, searching them and their plane.

He said his ex-wife's personal bank account had been frozen, her former house was searched and her phones were tapped as part of the ordeal, which had also involved visits to his elderly parents' home.

Mr Noakes said that bank accounts of Immuno Biotech, containing around £1.2m., have been frozen.

He said also that his personal account had been blocked by the bank.
