But heritage events manager Angela McCafferty said licensing the sites for full marriage ceremonies would get them used even more.
A number of islanders have had blessings at such sites, but the legal ceremony can be carried out only in certain covered, registered sites such as churches or the Greffe.
After Jersey approved outdoor marriages, the
Policy Council said it would be looking at changing the local rules.
Mrs McCafferty said Guernsey's historic sites were ideal for ceremonies and should be allowed for marriages.
