Ministry of Justice flies the Sark flag as the island marks its 450th anniversary

SARK'S flag is being flown from the UK Ministry of Justice headquarters in London today to mark the island's 450th anniversary of the granting of the Fief.

The Ministry of Justice manages the UK Government's constitutional relationship with the Crown Dependencies and has been instrumental in helping to promote a better understanding of Sark among MPs and UK civil servants.

Island-wide celebrations are taking place in Sark today, tomorrow and over the weekend to mark the anniversary of the arrival from Jersey of the first Seigneur of Sark Helier de Carteret.

These events include a children's pageant, courtyard market outside the Visitor Centre, the opening of the new Sark Henge on the south-east coast, a cricket match, a round the island cruise and a family fun day on Sunday.
