The iconic plane flew its last flight on Sunday 28 June, just a few weeks shy of 40 years since it was brought into service. 'A number of aviation museums in England have expressed an interest in taking ownership of G-JOEY for display purposes,' an Aurigny spokesman said.

'We would want the aircraft to be housed and displayed inside to preserve its airframe and fittings.

'We are negotiating with one specific enterprise, but it is too early to release any further details.
