Among those are nationally-owned High Street stores such as New Look, Boots and HMV as well as a number of local food retailers.
Commerce and Employment minister Kevin Stewart said in the run-up to Christmas it was 'hugely important' for shops to see total deregulation come in as planned.
'It is all about choice,' he said.
'It sends an important message the government does not "nanny" the people or business.
