Commerce and Employment minister Kevin Stewart said that the Moneyval assessment would help in the long-running battle the island has engaged in against a public register. The UK government is among those pushing the concept, which the local authorities and the financial services sector are robustly opposing.
'I am pleased that among other things the evaluation clearly demonstrates that in Guernsey the beneficial ownership information of legal persons is obtainable where trust and corporate service providers are involved in the formation, management or administration of legal persons, and that this information can be accessed by authorities in a timely manner,' said Deputy Stewart.
Chief Minister Jonathan Le Tocq said that the successful report was a credit to 'Team Guernsey'.
