More sunshine than ormers

YESTERDAY'S beautiful weather and 0.2m low tide meant many people flocked to the coast to gather ormers.

It was mixed fortunes for the people the Guernsey Press spoke to at Bordeaux, however, with tales of both success and of failure.

Ormer gathering can next be undertaken between 23 and 25 March, although the lowest tide in this bracket is only 1.3 metres.

In April there are two more ormering tides; the 9th to the 11th and the 23rd to the 25th.

The first tide is more promising, with 0.2m predicted on 8 and 9 April.
