CARS and workshops that are on independently-owned land within the Sausmarez Manor complex are inappropriate for a tourist site, according to the manor's owner.

Peter de Sausmarez has objected to a planning application by Chris Torode and his wife to change the use of their agricultural land curtilage.

Mr and Mrs Torode's home is annexed to the manor and the field that adjoins it is surrounded by Mr de Sausmarez's property.

'Since they moved in more than 15 years ago the number of cars has been building up and they have added more sheds and workshops,' said Mr de Sausmarez.

'There are currently seven sheds, a quad bike, lawn mowers, 19 cars and piles of wheels and tyres.'

He said at one stage there had been 36 cars on the site.
