Ideal Furnishings occupies a large site in Le Bordage. The buildings on the south-east corner have stood empty for more than a decade.
The company has applied to demolish those which make the corner with Contree Croix Mansell.
In the planning application, James Seymour, from structural engineers CBL Consulting, said the property, which used to be a furniture store and showroom, had deteriorated substantially. Internal bracing has been put in to shore it up.
'The timbers within this are substantially damaged and cannot be brought back into usage without substantial alteration and repair work being undertaken for negligible practical gain,' Mr Seymour said.
