Pride of Guernsey - 'He has made a huge contribution to the community of Guernsey'

LEARNING and development contributions to emergency care have seen Graham Le Maitre nominated for Emergency Hero of the Year, sponsored by Rossborough. Judy Moore placed the nomination due to his role in staff development.

'And in particular ensuring that the emergency staff have the high-level skills required to perform their life-saving roles as paramedics and technicians. He is involved in initial staff training at the ambulance service and ongoing updating to ensure their ability is maintained.

'But that is not all that Graham has done, he has been involved in delivering training across the islands. He has delivered specialist training in emergency care for services such as the police and fire services and groups such as divers. He also acts as advanced life support tutor alongside his Health & Social Care colleagues, ensuring that health care staff have the skills required to cope in life-threatening conditions.'

Students that Mr Le Maitre has trained said he is 'knowledgeable, inspiring, interesting, kind and considerate'.

'Graham has made a huge contribution to the community of Guernsey and I am sure that many people are alive today, or have had less-serious outcomes from accidents and emergencies, due to the training he has given – often without them being aware of his contribution to their wellbeing.'
