GOING above and beyond the call of duty has seen the entire GSPCA nominated for the Rossborough-sponsored Emergency Hero of the Year award.

The anonymous nominee said they felt everyone who worked at the animal charity deserved a nomination.

'They all go above and beyond the call of duty. It is not a typical 9am-5pm job, most start a lot earlier and finish much later. A lot of them take hand-rears home, which means feeding them throughout the night at least every two hours. It is a very demanding but incredibly rewarding job, with no two days the same.

'They put their all into absolutely everything they do. Some days can make you cry, but it all makes the job worth it. Every single one of them who work there love what they do, which makes the team mesh so well.'
