Nominators Jessica Tough and her 11-year-old son, Harry, praised Ed Adams' and Russ Hamon's ingenuity and persistence in supporting the island's gifted young footballers.

'Ed and Russ set out to offer a different footballing experience to children by creating Ormer FC, as the current system provided was not challenging these very gifted players,' she said.

Mrs Tough said both sacrificed a great amount of time to run the team and give the youngsters opportunities they would not otherwise have.

'They both give up their spare time to train the boys twice a week and also by travelling with the team to the UK every Saturday to play in the Nerf Junior Premier League.'

In addition to coaching their football skills, she said Mr Adams and Mr Hamon made them into responsible young men who were a credit to the island.

'They have developed the boys into young men who are responsible, dedicated, hard-working and who make the island proud,' she said.

And she said they had overcome setbacks themselves in order to provide this service.

'Ed and Russ have had barriers put in front of them from the start and have hurdled every one in order to provide this experience.'
