Retired dressmaker Jenny Hockey has spent nine months making the creations for Remembrance Week and this year she will be donating the money to the local branch of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.
That means it will go directly to support any wounded servicemen and women in Guernsey.
Mrs Hockey has produced between 1,200 and 1,500 poppies and will be selling them at Les Adams Chapel in St Peter’s each afternoon from Monday to Saturday between 2.30 and 4pm.
She has also dressed a display for the chapel ahead of its Remembrance service on Sunday 12 November, at which her husband, Barry, will be playing a piece of music, sent over by the Royal Marines, on the church organ.
Islanders can see the display during the afternoons at the Les Adams Chapel. They can also buy a poppy from there. Poppies are also available at the Coach House Gallery, The Cheshire Home charity shop on the Bridge and Summerland Nursing Home. They can be bought for £2 or for a donation.
