Tracey Dowinton of Argent Funeral Care has become the first female funeral director in the island to achieve the National Association of Funeral Directors diploma in funeral arranging and administration.

‘After all the hard work and study involved, I’m delighted to have attained the diploma. Besides contributing to inspiring client confidence in my abilities, it represents my commitment to delivering funeral services of the highest quality,’ she said.

Argent is part of The Channel Islands Co-operative society and chief operating officer Mark Cox offered his congratulations.

‘Consistent with the society’s vision of making a difference to the communities it serves, Tracey’s achievement shall better enable her to support local families at their time of need,’ he said.

The funeral director achieved a merit in the written exam and a commendable pass in the oral exam.

She was formally presented with the award by NAFD president Alison Crake and the chairman of its board of examiners, Keith Peacock, as well as Dawn Albery, head of Birmingham City Business School, at a graduation ceremony at Birmingham City University.
