This year’s festival theme centres around Occupation and Liberation and will see several venues host special exhibitions and displays until 10 May.

Two cabinets dedicated to the film about the island’s Occupation feature the original costumes and props, such as the potato peel pie dish and manuscript of the book mentioned in the film.

A separate display in the greenhouse gallery at the Guernsey Museum, Reflections on Occupation, features work from dozens of local artists and writers on the topic of life during the Occupation.

These include poems by Pearl White Regan dating back to 1943 and music from Mick Le Huray.

The Priaulx Library will also feature a free exhibition, Priaulx Library Under German Rule, containing personal accounts of wartime Guernsey.

This includes a display on the life of Ralph Durand, chief librarian of the library at the time of the Occupation who secretly placed copies of the Guernsey Underground News Service in reference books at the library.
