Fundraising gives Mimi celebrity race status
ALDERNEY resident Mimi House will put her long months of gruelling training to use on Sunday.
She has already raised more than £8,000 for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, thanks to an equally energetic fundraising campaign, and because of that she has gained entry to the exclusive celebrity section of the race.
She and her husband, John, are committed to the JDRF. It funds research into Type 1 diabetes, a disease with which their son Billy, 8, has been diagnosed and for which there is no known cure.
Mimi will join the likes of Sir Mo Farah and Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge.
‘I am really looking forward to taking part and soaking up the atmosphere,’ she said.
‘The last few weeks of training have been hard, running in the cold, rain, gale force winds and snow has been challenging – and the forecast for the marathon is sunny and warm, which is typical.
‘I have received so much support through my fundraising over the last eight months, which I am very thankful for. This money will most definitely give me that extra push to reach the finish line.’
You can track her progress on the London Marathon 2018 app by typing in her runner number (24079) or her name.
