At the end of June water resources were at 93.3% of total available storage.
Peak demand is well down on previous records.
‘Water demand has steadily increased since mid-July and our water production team has been working hard to ensure our water treatment works have been able to meet these demands,’ a Guernsey Water spokesman said.
Demand in June peaked on the 25th when it supplied 15.5 million litres of water, a figure exceeded twice in the same month last year when there was also more supplied in total over the period.
The peak was below the 16.9 million litres supplied on 1 March, when the thaw after the cold snap resulted in increased leaks.
Demand continued to increase during the first two weeks of July, peaking on Sunday 8th with the record for this year, 50,000 litres more than the March figure.
This is still well below the July record of 23.5 million litres, which was supplied on 28 July 2002.
The spokesman said it was important to remember that, although water levels remain healthy, it is a precious resource and should be used wisely.
