Battle of Britain memorial flight cancelled
BAD weather has resulted in the Battle of Britain memorial flight being cancelled.
A ceremony is taking place at the Allied Aircrew Memorial at Guernsey Airport this afternoon to remember airmen who died during the Second World War. The event was set to culminate in a flypast by a C47, escorted by a Spitfire and Hurricane, at 2.30pm.
One of the organisers, Mike Snelling, said having the historic aircraft was always a highlight of the event.
'The plan was they would fly down from RAF Coningsby and down to Jersey for their display and then on the way back fly past us,' he said.
'Unfortunately the weather has been the problem.'
The service will still take place at 2.15pm.
