Janine Schofield, who is from Guernsey, has already made it to more than 140 of the businesses.
The mission all comes back to Ms Schofield’s relationship with her grandparents.
As a child she spent much of her time at boarding school and every weekend her grandparents would take her out for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Her story has made national headlines.
‘I think the Mirror newspaper quoted it as being in 2007 but I think it’s earlier than that,’ she said.
‘My grandparents would take me out every Saturday and Sunday for lunch and as my grandmother got older she began to suffer with Alzheimer’s, which meant she liked familiarity and the Morrisons cafe had a favourite meal of hers so we always tried to find one wherever we went.’
Ms Schofield’s grandparents had an atlas in their car and they had noted a small ‘M’ on the map where they knew there was a Morrisons.
‘I knew I had been to about 10 or 15,’ added Ms Schofield.
‘And I thought wouldn’t it be really cool to visit them all. Sadly my grandmother passed away in 2010 and then me and my grandfather continued the tradition until he sadly passed away in 2014, now it is just me. I look for a Morrisons everywhere I go.’
Ms Schofield keeps track by keeping a receipt from every store she visits which she sticks in a book.
No store is more special to Ms Schofield than the Morrisons in Cleveleys, Lancashire, which she first used to visit with her grandparents.
She says it is interesting the way different stores in different locations will stock different items depending on their region.
‘I have heard on the grapevine that Sandpiper are opening another Morrisons near to the White Hart. It would be an honour for me to be able to cut the ribbon when that opens.’
