Aurigny says it is allowing people to cancel their flights and get refunds up to and including 12 April.

The decision was made late today [Thursday] in light of the latest States of Guernsey guidance to avoid all non-essential travel.

An Aurigny spokeswoman said the airline would only be processing the cancellations online using the airline's website, as its call centre was overwhelmed today.

Travellers must cancel their booking and not just fail to show up at the airport, as the airline needs to calculate flight demand.

Alternatively passengers can change their bookings without incurring a booking fee, although fare differences will apply.

The spokeswoman also asked that people who do contact the call centre to be patient.

‘Aurigny staff are doing the best they can in extraordinary circumstances and we would also ask our customers to be kind.’

Aurigny has originally set the date as 12 April, before moving it to 9 April. Travel after 9 April is still subject to the usual terms and conditions.

Friday 10 April is Good Friday.
