Moisturising hand cream was suggested by key workers as a practical commodity to improve working conditions for front line workers during the pandemic.
Due to extensive hand-washing procedures, hands have become dry and cracked, which poses a barrier to functionality.
A Soroptimists spokesperson said: ‘Last week we asked our local nurses what we could do to help our nurses and health care workers – the reply was hand-cream to help with their sore, cracked hands.
‘Here is our first batch of hand-cream on its way to the hospital.’
Soroptimist International Guernsey president elect Sally Evans said the lotions were ‘just a small thank you to them for being there for us all’.
‘So far we have donated 50 large hand lotions in appreciation, gratitude and support for the health care staff at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital for all their hard work and dedication at this difficult time.’
Soroptimists are a worldwide network of women who serve the global community.
Through goodwill, understanding and action they hope to create opportunities to transform lives to ensure a more equitable and secure world.
Ms Evans said: ‘The Guernsey club is a lively, friendly and active group of women who use their various skills and talents to make a difference to the lives of others. This latest project is just one of the many initiatives they support locally, nationally and internationally.’
Soroptimists are committed to a world where females achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide.
